Review on Bosch Benchtop Router Table RA1181 by Chad Carter

I had to save up for a real router table

After using the thing a little, I really don't like it. As others have pointed out, the countertop is anything but flat. In the photos it looks like the top is flat, but that's just an illusion. I don't think aluminum can be stamped, but it looks like they did. The surface is raised around each hole and center insert. Small pieces of wood slide like waves over this plate. I had to clamp it down with a piece of wood to make it flat enough to be usable. And then the fence - what a frustrating joke. The two parts do not line up and the wood gets caught on the edges after it has passed through the cutter. I was just trying to cut a baseboard that had two ridges in it caused by the wood running down both edges of the fence. The leading edge catches on the left rail and the trailing edge falls off the right rail, creating very noticeable creases in the slot. Storage bits work well because you don't rely on the fence for anything. I'll spend a little time figuring out how to get this thing to work better so I don't lose my money, but no one has to do anything. how is it. The thing is more suitable for toys for toddlers - without a real router. As it turns out, you can't work with it precisely. I like the Bosch router but Bosch shouldn't put its name on this table or make it an actual router table. Go ahead and do what I did. I read the reviews and thought that with so many good reviews it can't be as bad as the bad reviews say, but it's just as good as the bad reviews say. Too bad I didn't spend two hundred dollars on a real router table. I was just too impatient to wait and wanted something now and wanted something cheap. This was one of the first tools I bought and I was surprised at how expensive decent tools are, but now I know it's better to save up a little longer and buy decent tools rather than junk like this. See who's using cheap stuff like this. You've been around long enough to know what's useful and what's garbage. Anyone using this router table is a complete novice or has spent a little time getting it up and running.
