Review on High-Performance Gates K080991 Micro-V πŸ”© Serpentine Drive Belt for Improved Efficiency by Ken Arellano

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Perfect replacement for a 1997 F150 4.6 with A/C

After watching some YT videos I was convinced it was a 5 minute job. Well, not exactly 5 minutes in my truck, but that's not the belt's fault. The distance between my fan blades and the 1/2" belt tensioner hole for the wrench can't be more than 3/4", making this almost impossible. to put the key in place. I finally managed to insert the wrench about halfway into the hole and then use the tube I attached to the end of the wrench as leverage. Being careful not to pinch my fingers in pinch points, as I was sure the wrench would not slip out of the hole, I removed the old belt. After 30 seconds the old belt was completely out of the engine compartment. Before installing a new one, I compared the old and new belts in size. They were there, although the new belt didn't have any cracks like the old one. Installing the new belt involved pushing it down between the idler pulley and AC pulleys, then crawling under the truck to wrap it around all three pulleys. It again took a 1/2" socket and connecting rod to fully attach and carefully slide the belt over the last pulley. It stayed up pretty well on all the pulleys and the first run confirmed it was properly adjusted. , after about 15 minutes and with a pretty dirty shirt from everyone climbing up/down, the truck is now working great again and there is no squeaking noise.
