I bought an affordable machine for digitizing all the archives accumulated over many years of amateur photography - black-and-white negative films, color negative films, slides in frames and in films. The color rendition of negative color films delighted me with its authenticity. A couple of years ago I tried to scan on the HP8200 and abandoned this idea: color negatives after color inversion were killed by their unreliability. I bought it on time - the device disappeared from the market, and instead of it, Plustek has a new model 5 times more expensive. I chose a resolution of 2400dpi - about 2 minutes of a single frame scan cycle. Taking into account the graininess of films produced in the GDR, this is very decent. In general, I am very, very satisfied: infrared scanning removes almost 100% (fingerprints that change color reproduction, if you look closely, remain; what can you do, you can’t hide anything from the younger generation at an early age), i. E. scratches, dust particles, traces of bad washing - everything disappears.
