Electronics good, plastic terrible

This was my first attempt at making an auto-dimming helmet. As far as I could tell, the electronics worked perfectly. It was possible to point the helmet at the sun and it did not darken, but with welding or a grinder it darkened normally. The lens was nice and clear and easy enough to see through. My problem arose with the helmet itself. Don't get me wrong, I'm no snob welder. I have a cheap Radnor and a cheap Lincoln from Home Depot. Both are much more convenient. Something about that helmet was making my temples ache. Also, I couldn't properly tighten the side screws. If I overtightened them the helmet would stay up but you couldn't shake your head to get it off. Anything else and he would fall at the slightest movement. Even if you twisted the shit out it wouldn't last. I cooked it for less than 30 minutes and it kept falling off when I picked it up. When this happens with one of my other helmets, I just lightly tighten the screws and the problem will go away. Finally, there's an adjustable strap that goes over the head and doesn't stay in place. Do yourself a favor and keep looking. I will buy something else to try.
