A bolt, no bolt

Ideal for my door fittings. I love that it comes with two plastic spacers for uneven mounting surfaces. It came with some longer screws, which is good, but I have French style double doors, so those screws go right through the doors. I had #8 screws that worked great. I bought this because my 3 year old can now open the front door by himself. I don't really consider this a good safety lock, more like a baby gate. Nothing against this product but I'm not entirely sure about the reliability of these types of latches. They are definitely better than the old chain clasps, but I think they break easily when tested. Chain locks can be easily cut with cheap bolt cutters that cost less than $20. This will not happen with this bar. Be sure to drill pilot holes for the screws. I used the recommended 7/64 bit for the pilot holes. Worked great.
