I bought this to add a pressure reservoir to a regular (non-RO) filter. We have had a reverse osmosis filtration system for many years. It worked well, but changing the filters was a bit expensive, so we switched to a simpler two-filter system. The taste of the water is just as good but the problem was that the flow rate was very slow. Because we use a filter to power the ice machine, the ice cream became smaller and rarer. So I thought I could add a pressure vessel from a reverse osmosis system to this system. But for that you need a check valve. Otherwise, when the pressure drops, the water will flow back through the filters, which is very bad. So I bought this check valve and added it to the inlet of the filter, then added a tank with the letter T on the outlet (also a holdover from the reverse osmosis system). It works great. I was concerned about how this would work with the 1/4" line since it's a press fit, but it worked great. I cut the existing line and glued it on both sides and there were no leaks at all. Now we have a lot of pressure on our filtered water.
