Suspa Gas Struts Two 80lb Suspa struts will not hold a 115lb flip cover open. It would have quickly come down on its own if it hadn't been caught. Luckily I had a second pair of new Suspa bars available (35 pounds lift each), so I mounted all four bars on the same cover. Now it opens easily, stays on its own and closes effortlessly. It would be nice if the Suspa website or instructions indicated that rack lifting power should be used in custom projects; and a description of the relative position of the upper and lower peaks. Replacing existing stays is the obvious choice, but for new projects without studs installed it's up to you, pretty much trial and error. Either way, the two sets of Suspa struts do a great job of making lifting that heavy lid a breeze. and holds it. See customer pictures.
