I replaced an old Type K wire thermocouple (the wire broke in the plug) with this version, thinking it would be more durable. and uncomfortable at the same time. The connector doesn't quite fit and I had to bend the ribs of the connector at odd angles to keep the connector in my pyrometer. The spiral cable is too elastic. It tends to curl and tangle when I need it to relax and lay there. The metal probe is made of fairly thin metal, thinner than I usually see, and bends easily. And finally, the rise/fall in temperature occurs with a longer delay than I'm used to. I'm used to it taking about a second or two for a cable to refresh, even going from room temperature to 850C. But it can take five to fifteen seconds, which is unexpectedly slow. So much time isn't an issue for what I do, but it's annoying after years of being quick to respond. I'm not sure if this is typical of protected sensors like these versus open wire thermocouples, but it doesn't seem right.
