Very well made tool. Fits perfectly in the slots of the retaining ring. It looks like it will last forever in home use. This is the version without the center pin. I had no problem centering it and securing it with the QR nut. The nut and spring must be removed to insert the tool into the retaining ring, so it's easy enough to put the nut back on without the spring holding the tool. Be sure to leave the nut loose enough to allow the retaining ring to be unscrewed a few turns. To turn the tool, I used a 1" box wrench, which is much more secure than a crescent wrench. A 1" deep head with a broken rod will also work.
