It works quite well. I had to do a cook test and adjust it when I first unboxed it. It allows you to calibrate it, which is nice. If you use needle nose pliers to hold the small nut at the bottom and turn the body of the thermometer, you can calibrate it to the temperature of the boiling water. My biggest complaint is that the latch that holds it to the side of the pot doesn't snap very well. I end up leaning the latch against the handle of the pan for better stability. I end up constantly knocking the thermometer out of the pot, which is annoying. It would be nice if it were better secured in use. It's like playing a game where the wrong exposure makes the thermometer fly out of the pot! At lower temperature tours around 100°F the accuracy is not 100% certain but it is consistent.
