Highly recommended for beginners in pyrography! Don't waste your money on these plugin versions. I bought 3 different torches and none of them came close to the quality of burn you can get with these wire torches. I'm a beginner and was amazed at the quality of artwork I was able to create with this new tool that I've never used before. I found the line art I liked on the internet, drew the outlines on the tree and just decorated it with the tool and my imagination! 90% are the tools and me. Very easy to use and unlike stick tools you can work with it for hours and it stays cool in your hand. Here are a few things to keep in mind: The temperature on the dial is in degrees Celsius. Make sure the spade lug is fully inserted before tightening the set screws otherwise it won't heat up properly and you'll think the machine isn't working properly. If you are new to this art, try not to work with pine. The seat of the stool I installed is made of pine, and the resin in the wood made a sticky mass at the tips that I had to constantly scrape off. For someone new, this can be an undesirable problem. Soft woods also tend to burn unevenly and require more control, but this tool makes it much easier to control than sticks with hard screw-in tips. Bottom line: If you're looking for an entry-level device, don't waste your money on a stick, just buy this one. It works great. Now I can't confirm the durability of this device as this is my first stool with it. I plan to create a series of bars and will update later with the results. Will this device last?
