Review on Walker 16392 Direct Catalytic Converter by Justin Newport

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Perfect fit and the van loves them!

I installed front and rear (front on this list) catalytic converters on my friend's 2005 Toyota Sienna with 213,000 miles. Codes P0430 (both cats are bad). Of course, the trader wanted to charge him the equivalent of Kenya's GDP to replace both cats. After searching for the best converter deals, we found them. Of course, there are a lot of thoughts on OEM vs. aftermarket converters, and I honestly don't know what I think. But I do know that $180 is a lot easier to swallow than $600. Plus, when aftermarket converters suck as people say, I find it hard to believe they're still in business. In any case, no matter what you believe, we hit the buy button and within days we had two brilliant converters on our doorstep. The fit of the transducers was excellent. All tabs aligned, heat shield holes, O2 sensor holes. Everyone. Fits in with no problems. I suggest buying new hardware for the studs attached to the exhaust pipe (flange down after the converter). This new one comes without hardware. You might get lucky and be able to repurpose your old hardware, but chances are everything is rusted and corroded, plus it will make your life a lot easier for just a few bucks. It also doesn't come with gaskets. You should also purchase a new manifold gasket and donut gasket. We bought a Victor Reinz MS19302 exhaust manifold gasket and a Walker 31332 exhaust gasket converter flange gasket and they both worked great. The front converter was easy to replace. The rear converter isn't terrible, but all the work for the rear end is done under the car. When we were all done installing, I asked my friend if he would like me to reset his check engine light. He said no and wanted to drive it and see the computer turn it off by itself. After about 150 miles of driving, his light went out! How long does this converter last? I have no idea but I'll post an update in my review in a few months and let you know how it's going. a lot and they work too. The check engine indicator has not returned!
