Heats up quickly, temp control doesn't work, UV suspected

Heats up quickly but gets WAY over 52C - painful to touch, soft TPE range melts. I've never seen a green light flash. Hopefully mine is just defective and not the norm. Also, I have my doubts about ultraviolet radiation, but I don't have the means to prove it. I'm guessing it's the blue LED. I have UV lamps that I use every day and they look very different. The light in this heating pad doesn't fluoresce anything I've seen. If it is indeed a blue LED and the temperature control doesn't work then none of the features I bought actually work.
