Review on πŸ”§ SS-02 Solder Sucker Desoldering Pump by ENGINEER by Tyler Blake

Revainrating 5 out of 5

One of the best solder cups - well not exactly

I recommend trying a few different cups before making a decision. Buy different models and find out which one works best for you. The advantage of this is that the tip is made of soft silicone. You press it onto the top of the iron tip and it fits and fits snugly onto the circuit board. If you can pay one of the bucks for 3 bucks then go get it. This is one of the most expensive models. In my opinion it was worth it. Edit: I thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. It's made of quality materials and is ergonomic, but it doesn't work very well. Soldering and desoldering is a learned skill and takes a lot of practice to master. The disadvantage here is the soft tip. It conforms to the surface to achieve the best suction seal. However, the device is not that powerful and my real problem is solder waste. Every other suck or so you have to squeeze out the molten solder that was sucked into the device. It gets stuck in the soft silicone tip about 90% of the time. You literally clean the device as you solder. Now my other device is about 20% of the price of this item and works better. It's LyonsBlue solder, you can buy it for around $5 and it has a high rating. This item is highly recommended and tested, but it didn't work for me. The LyonsBlue has a hard nozzle and I first removed the iron nozzle before attempting to vacuum. I've found that leaving the iron in place and just pressing the device on it works a lot better. In the half to one second it takes to remove the hot soldering tip, the molten solder is already beginning to solidify.
