ULLO 3 weeks in action: Food and Entertainment

Well I'm a big fan of wine and enjoy social gatherings and special occasions. My favorite reds (cabs, blends). I've been looking for something that will make wine look younger or sweeter without the headaches and sulfate sensitivity. Enter the ULLO I bought 3 weeks ago. Here is my own subjective evaluation of this interesting wine accessory: In my opinion it filters sulfates and about a dozen bottles that we used with our ULLO for sweet and semi-sweet wines that we served at social events and small gatherings gave neither guests nor us tradition headaches or individual reactions in wine-sensitive people. No, they liked drinking wine and were pleasantly surprised by the ULLO process and how it transformed wine. convert wine? How?: Reducing or eliminating sulfates makes most people sensitive to them and also improves the flavor of most wines. WINES MOST SUITABLE FOR ULLO: Sweet, semi-sweet, white and very young red wines. All improved with filtering through ULLOWines. NOT SUITABLE FOR ULLO: All mature red wines, vintage ports and sparkling wines. ULLO doesn't help here, the taste in my opinion, and traditionally there is even very little sulfate present. In sparkling wines, ULLO completely neutralizes effervescence and leaves a bland taste. USING ULLO: Simple instructions if you pay attention to simple instructions. Possibility of ventilation or without ventilation by turning the plastic frame on the ULLO. I've aerated young red and sweet wines and seemed to improve the overall flavor. CLEANING is very simple: you need to disassemble the base and remove the filter, rinse and quick rinse and you're done Fragile and tearable packaging can hit the edge filter, tearing it and rendering it unusable. Just shake the filter in the package and then open it and you won't have this problem. Place the beveled filter inside the filter and make sure it fits snugly. Then attach the base and you're done. With ULLO you can place it over a glass or even a carafe. Keep in mind that as other reviewers have noted, wine filtration takes 3 to 5 minutes, so the process is slower. Filters: yes, expensive, yes, only 1 filter per 1 bottle or 750ml is recommended. Yes adds $3.00 to a bottle of wine as other users rate the total cost of the filter. However, in our experience we were able to rinse the filter (by gently rinsing it with cold water) and use it on another bottle of wine with no ill effects. This is not recommended by ULLO, but we have been able to extend the life of the filter. You will have different opinions about how ULLO changes the taste of wines. In our opinion, this changes the taste, but it is a taste improvement. For this reason it should not be used for more expensive aged reds, ports etc. They are best consumed after decanting or aeration to appreciate the flavor of the wine. Overall Verdict: You are the judge. If you are a heavy wine drinker, frequent higher sulphate, traditionally consume or party cheaper sweet, semi-finished or young red wines and are sensitive to sulphates and their effects, then this is a good solution. Understanding the initial cost and frequency of use will be your most important decision, and you will know that ULLO is not suitable for ALL wines. Alternatively, you can buy filters direct from Revain, or I've seen them sold at Best Buy. To be honest I haven't seen anything that can minimize or significantly reduce sulfates like ULLO does and many people who have had to give up drinking wine can now do so with this product.
