I've had the hinged lid twice. Once on my old F-150 and now on my new 2019 Ram Limited. Easy direct installation. A couple of points though, once you measure the distance from the bed to the underside of the placement bracket and have a couple of wooden pegs, it will be easier for you to place the bracket where it needs to be and lock it in place. I also used a smaller drill and pre-drilled the holes as this made driving the self-tapping screws much easier (they are very difficult to insert without pre-drilling). I love this product. FYI, if you have the RAM 2019 service bed rail system available, they won't get in your way. It covers almost half of the length. So if you want to use your rail system for something, it might be better and easier to take it off very quickly to use the rails. But they are very easy to take off! I will never own a truck without swing covers installed.
