Review on πŸ”© Premium Stainless Steel Extra Heavy Duty 3/8-24 Stud Mount for Ham & CB Radio Antennas - Ultra Durable and High-Performance Solution by David Hashman

Works in some situations but the design doesn't allow me to use it

Now I understand why so many mounts are used. It's a great idea, but poorly implemented. Mounted on a 1/8 flange, the screw makes about 3 turns of contact with the antenna side of the bracket. I could probably live with that, but the hole in the screw is a fixed size so it doesn't have a "pinching effect" on the center wire of the antenna cable. This may not be an issue for some if your center cable is fairly large, but I have no connection. I give 3 stars because it works for some but not for me. I could cut off the factory end of the cable and solder the appropriate one on, but not worth it when other viable mounts are available.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Requires an outlet

Hole for the center electrode on a PL259 is not deep enough
