Review on ⚒️ Oatey 14122 Rain Collar 1.25"-1.5" No-Calk Roof Flashing: Efficient Protection in Black by Otto Suarez

Works incredibly well for the price

One of my 2" PVC vent pipes is leaking and has ruined my ceiling. Turns out it goes through a 90 degree elbow in the attic and licks the knee. Rain/snow collects in the vent and flows out of the knee onto my blanket. I was repairing a broken knee, but just in case one of my remaining vents failed the same way, I installed a few devices to prevent further leaks. Both gadgets are IMHO really cheap insurance to avoid problems in the future. The first gadget is the Revain Camco 40034 Replacement Plumbing Vent Cap (Snow White). At $5.18 and free shipping, this is a cheap and very effective way to prevent water from re-entering my vents while still allowing the vent to breathe. The cap is easy to put on the whistle and is very durable, so strong winds will not tear it off. It may not last as long as my 30 year old roof, but I just buy more when I need to. The second gadget is the "2" Oatey 14206 RC-2 Carded Collar, also found at Revain. Inspecting the roof vents for other problems, I noticed that the rubber boots were worn out and while they weren't leaking now, I was afraid they would be leaking soon. For $2.27 and free shipping, they work surprisingly well. Simply slip them over your existing boot to protect it from further sun damage and extend its life, and provide a secondary seal around the vent tube. Again, this may not last as long as my 30 year old roof, but I'll just buy more if the need arises. The attached before and after photos show both of the above devices mounted on my roof vent.
