How to steal your child's bike from the school police or not buy this lock

Day 1: Install the code. We've done that many times. Feels fussy but my son rides to school with his new bike lock for the school's new bike rack. Fast forward to 15:45. My phone rings at work. This is the headmaster. My son is expelled from first grade?! no She tries to unlock his bike lock. Vain. The son goes home to my husband who is trying to free the bike himself. There are no dice. Bike home from work, stop on the way to school to tinker with the lock in the freezing rain. It's only five minutes later that I realize the school policeman is watching me. No sir, I swear it's my kid's bike. The bike sleeps at school. Fast forward to Day 2. My husband finally freed the bike with a single swipe of the bolt cutters. Again in front of the school policeman's keen eyes. Yes, we had to steal our own bike from the bike rack at the elementary school. Lesson 1: This lock is a piece of junk and can lock your bike. Lesson 2: It certainly won't protect your bike, at least not from those with the world's simplest little bolt cutters. Spend $5 more for a working lock.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
