This is the fastest handheld scanner we use. We take them to the streets and literally scan thousands of pages with them. I highly recommend getting a Canon Care Pack for this. We contacted Canon to fix one bought in 2012 (turned out it just needed replacing the user-replaceable reels). Canon doesn't fix them. They only offer an exchange for devices with no warranty. In my opinion, that's better than sending it in for repair and waiting for it to be returned. The scanner itself is fast, with crisp and clear images. I can't think of any other handheld scanner that can match the speed and clarity of this device. We compared it to Scan Snap and earlier versions from Canon (DR-2580). The supplied software, if properly configured, will scan and orient pages correctly, regardless of how they are loaded into the scanner (text orientation detection). There are other very useful features as well. Combine this with Acrobat and you have a great document capture system.
