I'm interested but I will rarely need it enough that I don't want to invest in a better mechanism. It looks pretty flimsy, but when handled with care it does what it's supposed to do very well. The tension of the needles to hold the thread is adjustable, and it's easy to set them too tight, which doesn't get in the way. It has instructions in its plastic case but I didn't find it until I put it away. With the ball crank, I used my free hand on the bottom of the Swift's spokes, to easily adjust winding speed and tension. otherwise it spun too much for my liking. The largest skein I wore was a 100g worsted and had no problems. Now I've wound up about 800 grams of sports yarn and 100% wool worsted yarn and so far it's worked beautifully.
