Very disappointing performance and misleading lighting.

This wifi hotspot is misleading. .At first glance, the coverage was much better. In reality, however, this is not the case. This Wi-Fi system establishes 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi with the same SSID and allows the client to switch to the strongest signal. This is where the illusion of stronger and better coverage comes into play. In fact, my phone mostly ran on 2.4 GHz. 5GHz only connected when I was a few steps away from the access point. A speed test in my backyard (about 30 feet from the access point) only showed about 10Mbps, while my old router got 35Mbps at 2.4GHz. When I turned off the 2.4GHz WiFi to check the actual 5GHz coverage, the coverage on the outside was more or less the same as the one router I had. Interior coverage has been improved since the hotspot is in two different locations, but this improved coverage becomes less meaningful when not connecting to 5GHz when both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi are enabled. During the test, the main decoration actually failed. I may not have been able to handle all of the traffic from the bit torrent (which wasn't much since I had a connection limit set). I was working on a PC connected via Ethernet. Performance issues aside, Deco requires you to create a cloud account and use their app to manage your Deco. There is no way to just set it up locally. It offers a limited web interface after updating the firmware to the latest version. However, this web interface is for information only and cannot be configured through the web interface. While this makes setting up your Wi-Fi network very easy, it does pose security issues. Deco would be a good option for those who just want more coverage and don't care about speed or security. Fear. But if you need fast Wi-Fi connections, stay away.

Pros
  • TP-Link's unique adaptive routing technology automatically selects the fastest path for each device, providing more flexible placement than a satellite system. I'll add
Cons
  • later.
