They were REALLY difficult to cut. You do NOT have to cut both sides. BUT you will need to measure yourself and make note of where to cut as their measurements say half an inch is an inch assuming you will be cutting on both sides. Save yourself pain and suffering by cutting off more than you need. LOVE these blinds but I'm giving one star for arm, wrist and hand pain. lol So if you have someone with big strong arms or even like a saw lol it might put you out of your misery. To be honest, I have small hands. It might not be a problem for you. Pros: Opaque, no slits or laces, easy to tape when installing. Cons: Very difficult to cut. Overall I would definitely buy again!
