Review on Bell Spark MIPS Cycling Helmet by Kevin Abner

Revainrating 3 out of 5

By price. good but not great. Strange visor.

Upon unboxing you could immediately see that the visor and adjustment mechanism are a slightly darker red than the rest of the helmet - different material, different finish than the rest of the helmet. The color difference is easy to miss, but the visor placement is a bit odd - it's also permanently fixed and not adjustable in any way. Adjusting the helmet is as easy as turning a knob on the back. After installation, it is mechanically locked. The helmet is light and very comfortable. My key observation is that the consistent visor placement is relatively high and does not block the sun. The chin strap only adjusts on one side, which moves the male/female locking mechanism to the right if you typically wear a medium or small helmet. Overall, this is an attractive helmet with a bright, rich color, but a bit pricey due to the lack of a removable/adjustable visor, which is permanently set unusually high and doesn't even block the sun. If you like red, you'll love the finish on this helmet. It does the job of protecting you in the event of an accident, but there are many similar helmets available for less money. I would suggest doing some shopping before you get to it. It certainly looks great and will otherwise work as intended.
