Review on Efficient TAMIYA Sanding Sponge Sheet 4 Type for Superior Surface Finishing by Noah Lewis

Revainrating 1 out of 5

The grit is VERY coarse for a finishing touch!

Grit numbers must conform to a European standard or NOT to North American conventions for grit counting. I compared their 400 grit to a sheet of 400 grit sandpaper I already have. THERE IS NO WAY that is so grainy. Even their 1500 grit sandpaper is rougher than my 400 grit sandpaper. I will NEVER use it on my models to try to smooth out sanding scratches. It creates more scratches than it removes! Overall like Tamiya products but very disappointed with how rough they are. They weren't exactly cheap, so I won't throw them away. I will keep them with me for the rough sanding but NOT for the fine sanding they were purchased for. Modern model colors contain finely ground pigments and the leveling properties are excellent. This means they show every detail of the model as well as every flaw; for example a scratch from sanding. I will clean it with 3M sandpaper.

Pros
  • Sheet size: 114Ã - 140mm / Thickness: 5mm
Cons
  • not reliable
