Great foam sandpaper set.

I really like these tools for sanding curved surfaces like figures. You'll get an amazing finish and just let the sandpaper do its job and go from 400 to 1500. I only wish they had 220 in the group as I need to sand down the epoxy putty I use. I give it a 4 because they only give you sandpaper on one side, which I think is cheap considering the price.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • So-so

Those aren't sanding sponges, those are erasers with spikes!

When these came and opened the pack I was a little upset. It's SMALL, maybe 6x6 or 7x7 inches. I expected a little more for this price. I was going to send them back because of this, but decided to try them instead. Boy am I glad I did! I cut them into smaller working squares and not only do they work great, but the little squares last a very long time.

Pros
  • Absolutely Amazing!
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something

But Tamaya is not a good product.

Abrasive material is good, but there are some problems. First, the abrasive material is only on one side of the pad, so you get very little for your coins. Second, it is very difficult to use wet material because the back pad is VERY porous. The sponge pad is too soft and not ribbed enough to apply enough pressure to sand fine detail. When cut into usable pieces, you'll struggle with the pad as it bounces around like a spring-loaded piece of paper. It's Tamaya, but it's not the best, like most…

The sand is rough compared to other things I use.

My hobby started with Squadron sharpening rods. Feels like the granularity is more medium and fine. I've been using Vallejo flexible sanders recently and the grit doesn't suit me. The 1000 grit Vallejo grinders are much finer than the Tamiya 1500 grit sponge, which doesn't make sense to me, but you can still use them. Unfortunately I probably won't buy again because they are too coarse to finish. Looks like I'll continue to graduate with Extra Fine Squadron clubs and Vallejo sponges.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far

Ideal for sanding resin parts before priming. Even grinding

I usually use nail buffs and metal files for plastic models, but now I'm a fan of these sponges. Don't get me wrong, I'll still be using those drugstore nail buffers, but with these sponges, their fine texture makes for a really even finish no matter what foil you use. They're pretty small, but I cut 1" x 2" rectangles and they really last a long time compared to everything else I've used. However, they aren't good enough for making plastic shine and I knew I was buying them. I usually use a…

Great product from Tamiya

These sanding sponges are ideal for modelling. Yes they are rough but they are not meant for final polishing. There are many microabrasives on the market for this purpose. The grinding material adheres very well to the sponge. This means that as you sand, you won't feel the abrasive grit loosen and the particles roll across the surface and scratch your work like cheap abrasives do. You can also cut two pieces and rub them together lightly until you get the right amount of abrasion needed for…

Pros
  • Made in Spain.
Cons
  • Only available in white

The grit is VERY coarse for a finishing touch!

Grit numbers must conform to a European standard or NOT to North American conventions for grit counting. I compared their 400 grit to a sheet of 400 grit sandpaper I already have. THERE IS NO WAY that is so grainy. Even their 1500 grit sandpaper is rougher than my 400 grit sandpaper. I will NEVER use it on my models to try to smooth out sanding scratches. It creates more scratches than it removes! Overall like Tamiya products but very disappointed with how rough they are. They weren't exactly…
