Review on Hyde 09170 Drywall Vacuum Sander by Earl Ton

In terms of dust, this product performs much better than expected, but it has one major flaw that others have pointed out. If you've used die sanders before, you'll need to pay a little more attention to this one, as it will "tilt" on its side if you're sanding the wide edge first. In particular, a kickback will tip the entire head onto its side and may damage the wall. This happens with other grinders, but not as often. Solution: Drive slower and grind diagonally. You'll feel it, but it can be difficult to maintain that angle while working quickly. Can I recommend this to others? Yes, provided you don't do more than a small room or two and dust control is a must. I needed this for a stairwell where venting the dust outside or covering everything was not an option. Big tasks? I would probably spend more on an electric rotary vacuum grinder. They cost in the $400 range but are worth every penny for larger jobs where dust control is essential and speed is a high priority.
