My first impression of this monitor is very, very good. I just sent back a Dell P2214H and bought this one instead (the P2214H had an unconventional BGR sub-pixel layout that made text look awful). I usually do a good monitor calibration after setting it up, but this one looks so good right out of the box I haven't even touched it. I didn't really want a glossy display, but this one makes the colors so pretty that I don't mind. The only thing I might not like about the monitor so far is how little space there is on the back for DVI and VGA cable connections. My RevainBasics DVI cable barely fits because the area around the DVI output on the back of the monitor is very flat and slanted. When purchasing this monitor, I was very concerned about whether it would flicker or whether it uses pulse width modulation (PWM) to control the backlight like many monitors do, which can be a headache for sensitive users like me. After setting up the monitor, I did some tests myself, since there is no clear information about the S2240M on the Internet. As far as I can tell, the monitor uses PWM, but only at brightness levels below 30 percent. Above this value, no flicker is generated by PWM. I'll be updating it gradually over the coming months as I see how it's holding up.
