Review on 🌬️ Optimize with Vornado Ultra1 Ultrasonic Humidifier for Whole Room Moisture by Tracy Shelton

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good humidifier, let's see how long it lasts.

I bought this humidifier in early November after the air got colder. I need humidity in the 50% range for a newborn, but with the heater on overnight the humidity dropped to 20% causing dry skin and nose problems for everyone. We had a Vicks V5100NS which was good enough to keep the humidity high (upper 60s and even 70s) when the heat was off, but it didn't lower it when the heat was on, even with a second small humidifier ( clearer picture) . As a result, I wanted something more substantial while keeping the ultrasonic (I want to avoid maintenance issues with evaporative humidifiers). Vornado Ultra 1 and 3 were the only choices for rooms over 500m2. ft. room, and my host is about that size. I chose Ultra 1 because bigger is better right? Unfortunately, even at Ultra 1, the humidity never exceeded the high 30s (sometimes the low 40s). The truth is that if you bring the temperature up to 72 or more in the evening, I don't think a humidifier will be able to increase the humidity. I lowered the temp to 69 at night and put the Ultra 1 on a small plastic table and now the humidity is 60 and with Vicks I can even get it to 70 (which is a bit too much). a lot of). The bottom line is, if you have dry air, just lower the temperature a little. Finally, many people have found problems with white powder and difficulties in cleaning. The problem isn't really with the humidifier, it's with your *water*. I live in Maryland and our water seems to be cleaned decently because I don't have white powder (it happens because of "hard" water). After about a week I had a little red-pink mold on the corners of the trays, but I just put some hydrogen peroxide in the machine and let it run while everyone was out of the room. I don't know if this will be bad for the device in the future, but it seems to have gotten rid of the mildew I get when I take a shower as well. Again, this is a water issue, not a humidifier. Another remedy would be to use some white vinegar. I assume both are fine. Finally, make sure the humidifier tank is fully inserted into the base after filling. My guess is that some people who have had leak issues either didn't do it or didn't do it on level ground. as written in the instructions. I don't tell everyone! I'm sure some people had quality control issues. I haven't really. The humidifier at high fan speed is a little noisy, but in the evenings I turn it on quietly and in general everything is fine. Again, these ultrasonic humidifiers simply cannot compete with a heat pump or heating system. If you set the temperature to 70, you just have dry air. Don't expect magic. I will post another review in about a year if there are no issues.
