I use it for engraving and shaping wood. I also use it often for DIY; Removing material in small areas, cutting nails/screws etc. This is my second Dremel 3000 but this time I needed an engraving attachment. My previous Dremel 3000 lasted a few years but I got too aggressive trying to carve some ash. I've spent a lot of time looking at other Dremel models as well as several other brands of rotary tools. If there's anything better for less than $100, I don't know what it is. last point; When I told my wife that my Dremel 3000 broke and I MUST replace it, she was unhappy. Until I told her how much is a new one ha! She thought it was $200-300. She knows how often I use it.
