With this guide, my burs start perpendicular to the surface and when I drill through something, I end up where I should. I'm the homeowner who gets out his drill to fasten things to the walls and install or build something simple. Even when I think the drill bit is perpendicular to the surface, I often make a mistake and end up with a slightly slanted hole. This is a serious problem the deeper you go. Because it's so small, it's easy to pull out and use for even the smallest of projects. I use clips where necessary but just hold it to the wall or something wide. It's metal so you'll need to protect surfaces that scratch easily or use a very light hand. I can imagine my great grandchildren pulling this out of an old tool box and using it decades from now. I'll be using it to drill straight holes in the wood for the beds and stands I'm building for the garden this spring. and secure everything with wooden pegs and dowels to take up less floor space. (Note: It's much easier to drive pins into straight holes than angled holes.)
