Great in theory, not so good in practice!

This thing seems like a great way to drill straight holes in wood without using a drill press, but that's not really the case. While I intend to keep this guide for backup purposes only, I do NOT recommend it! Even though I used C-clamps to place the lead on the tree, I found that they still didn't help me drill straight holes. I found it was more accurate to make them by hand like I always do! If you need to drill precise holes, use a power drill. Although I already have one, it is large and…

Too bad I didn't discover this many years ago

I was hesitant to spend coins on these but they are worth it if you need to stay vertical and can't work the press. Very nicely finished, the holes are slightly larger than the size of the freely spinning racquet, preventing you from hitting your target. So far all my bits have been good at clearing shavings from the top with wood and aluminum - there isn't much room under the guide so shaving buildup can be an issue when watching cast iron or dull/cheesy bits. The height is just enough to give

NO ONE WANTS A USEFUL HOLE

Not sure what metal this is made of, but it's a solid piece of hardware, much stronger than I expected. While I haven't tried it, I think it would be pretty difficult to drill this thing if you didn't have the right equipment (not that you want it, but the point is that your drill bits won't damage it). The numbers on it aren't always easy to read, but it's good for drilling straight holes. There is a V-groove on the bottom so it can fit round objects, cylindrical materials or outside corners…

It's portable, massive, has many bur sizes, and it works

With this guide, my burs start perpendicular to the surface and when I drill through something, I end up where I should. I'm the homeowner who gets out his drill to fasten things to the walls and install or build something simple. Even when I think the drill bit is perpendicular to the surface, I often make a mistake and end up with a slightly slanted hole. This is a serious problem the deeper you go. Because it's so small, it's easy to pull out and use for even the smallest of projects. I use…

Well done but design flaws

Drilled holes in two Oak 2x6s all day yesterday for a project. I wanted people to like this device as it is a cheaper alternative to buying a drill for quick work. Items are durable and made from good materials for the job. And it worked, just not as well as it could. There are markings on each side of the block that correspond to the holes for each drill size. The problem is you can't secure it with clamps because they constricted it. When you tighten the adjacent clamp, the block moves, which

Mandatory clamp for use with drill Parts and accessories

To use these drill guides, the user must position the device over the drill site and then clamp the drill guide. If the drill guide is not clamped, it is likely to move and eject the hole. In many cases it is very difficult to clamp the guide. For example in the middle of a large slab or in tight spaces. This severely limits the usefulness of this tool. The main problem is that the ground is slippery, making it difficult to keep the tool away from the rotary motion of the drill; therefore, the…

Simple and Works: Electric Drill Parts and Accessories

I do farm maintenance and part of my job involves repairing augers. These augers are driven from one end by a hub that fits over the end of a shaft that a screw goes through to connect everything together. What happens is that every once in a while something loosens, starts wobbling and the end of the drill shaft wears out. It's easy to fix: cut off the damaged area at the end of the worm shaft, screw on the extension sleeve, put everything back together and off you go. The problem is drilling…

Great tool with some "hidden " applications.

I purchased this drill guide about a year ago to use for its intended purpose and I am very happy with the results I have had with it on various projects. This really helps a lot when I need to drill/align multiple holes and it's not possible to get to the drill press. I see several reviews here indicating that some users have had issues with proper positioning and/or holding on during a drilling operation. It is important to understand that this is a guide, not a drill holder. So my advice…
