Ethernet not working dell xps15

I was already using an Ethernet to USB C adapter, when I connected Ethernet to this adapter it didn't work. I thought it was my other USB and HDMI cables, but it didn't work even with only Ethernet connected to the adapter. Big disappointment, now I have to return it and wait for a better one that actually works. The materials are nice to hold, but the ethernet doesn't work, so I don't know how good it can be without full functionality. Standard USB and HDMI work as described.
