I wanted to use this product to get better performance than my WiFi in a room with poorer wireless coverage. When I received the device, I ran some tests. These cases were as follows and are also listed in the attached figures.1. Shortest path 2. Same circuit 3. Adjacent circuit 4. Different electrical circuit I went to the device configuration page and was pleased to find that it has a bandwidth reporting tool that allows me to see the actual performance between the two powerline transceivers. Screenshots of the performance of the test cases are listed in the attached images. Test Result 1: In this setup, both devices were plugged into the same power cord (not a wall outlet) to create the absolute shortest path. Can achieve advertised device speed (including IP address and transmission overhead). Test Result 2. In this setup, each device was plugged into outlets on the same circuit in the same room. Capable of reaching 90% of the device's advertised speed. Test Result 3: In this setup, each device was plugged into outlets in adjacent rooms that were wired to different circuit breakers, but the circuit breakers were side by side in a junction box. Capable of reaching 30% of the device's advertised speed. Test Result 4: In this setup, each device was plugged into outlets in different rooms with switches that weren't adjacent. Capable of reaching 5% of the device's advertised speed. Results 1 and 2 show me that the power line performance is very good in the same circuit. Score 3 showed me that it's still better than Wi-Fi in most cases when my network needs are in adjacent rooms (and more importantly, next to a circuit breaker). Result 4 showed me that powerline is no better and sometimes worse than Wi-Fi in various non-adjacent circuits. Before purchasing this product, first find out what your electrical layout is in your living space and then determine if this solution can work. To you.
