Inaccurate coverage

I bought this ORBI to replace a borrowed modem I got from my ISP. I have a house that is about 3,500 square feet (2 stories) and I was hoping this would help boost the signal throughout the house and increase our internet speeds. I downloaded the ORBI APP during installation and it gave me the wrong MAC address. It took a long time to fix the ISP problem because I didn't know why it wouldn't connect. I should have just looked at the bottom of the modem first. Then I tried to connect the satellite - it wasn't as easy as those YouTube videos or instructions. I used the app and also just pressed the sync button on the router. In each case, I lost my phone's wireless signal while standing 10ft from the modem, and the router wouldn't connect (so I had to turn it off/on/sync and try again). It was a little annoying to say the least. A few days later we placed the router around the house to see where it was best. There are some devices that turn on 2.5 GHz and 5 GHz automatically. You can't choose. This is the biggest problem for me as I use some devices for work. I still have to try many things you can find on the forums to fix this problem. I am currently using Ethernet directly for my work computer as the wireless network speed is not fast enough to scale it. Honestly I expected it to be a lot better considering how expensive it is. I would return it if it wasn't for the hassle and need of the internet. The ethernet cable is fast so I will continue to use it. For larger households it may be best to use ORBI with two additional routers. For me, buying another router costs $150-$200, which I find ridiculous.
