Review on πŸ”§ Gardner Bender GS-388 Electrical Pliers, Crimper & Cutter: Comfort Grip, 8 in. Hand Tool for Aluminum & Copper Wire (Red) by Troy Rotermund

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Features Good, doesn't look as pretty as US made

This is a Chinese made product in the PRC (Mainland) and unfortunately the workmanship isn't as good as my others in the US or Taiwan manufactured instruments (China). However, the kit I received had dies that were aligned and spaced the correct distance apart to properly crimp the various wire connectors I use in my HVAC classes and home repair jobs. The length and balance suit my hand and I love it. This is enough to give me the ability to put "good" crimps on the connectors. I've found that I use it more often than the Ideal crimp tool, a much nicer and more expensive crimp tool, because the Ideal crimp tool is a little long to maneuver. Key. All you have to do is test the crimp on a few connectors to see which one works best for the size you're crimping. I only use this tool's cutting function when my wire cutting tool is nearby. When I need to cut a wire it cuts well. Although not as clean as my Klein wire stripper/cutter or Greenlee diagonal wire cutters. If you want a better tool, go for the Klein, Greenlee or Ideal. Expect to pay two to three times more for these other tools.
