I bought my first Caran D'ache Studio set a few years ago and after receiving and trying the tubes I can only admire the quality and accuracy of the shades, they are exactly the same as these originally . Frying pans from my set. This set is fantastic, I love that the gouache can be in tubes and cuvettes, sometimes depending on the project you need more paint and the tubes work faster. I want to say that the studio set, both in tubes like this one and the set in a pan, is of a different quality than Fancolor, hence the difference in price. I have both This studio set resembles professional gouache, the texture of the paint resembles gouache. The Fancolor set is more for kids, the colors are brilliant but the texture and consistency is like there's cornstarch in the mousse (yes, like in chocolate mousse), you can pour in a decent amount of water and it goes, dries as is should go. This makes sense for children because they draw the color from the pan directly onto the paper. Adults who are more serious about drawing or professionals may not appreciate this. Not only is this studio set affordable, but it is of such high quality that I always fill it up first before moving on to professional paint. That's good, gouache colors are all characterized by their transparency and opacity, even with this brand. I had to learn that you have to mix in a small amount of white first and then find a pure colour. A little white is enough to render them opaque. Notable items send item, no dents, in perfect condition. The number of colors is amazing, I hope others like them too!
