Review on πŸ”§ Adjustable High Speed TiN Coated Drill Doctor by Marc Zitnik

Revainrating 5 out of 5

OK, so I was wrong!

I have over 200 drills that I have collected over the years. Many of them were with my father. He used to throw blunts in a box so he could one day sharpen them. He had a device that used sand or something crazy that blew into a little pocket and supposedly sharpened bits. It never worked very well. I keep buying pieces, then they get boring, I throw them in this box and buy more. Drills are getting more and more expensive so I figured while this device is expensive for its purpose and I wouldn't need it much if it worked and all my drills were sharpened I still wanted to see what it could do. . I was positively surprised! I spent a total of 3 days sharpening the blades but I did everything. I have sharpened very large bits down to 3/4" and down to about 1/8". Less was very difficult but I managed to sharpen them. The small pieces are not particularly catchy. I even sharpened some of the bits I had and it was great! I first tested a few bits by putting them in my drill press and trying to drill holes in various materials like wood, thick aluminum, and iron. They cut through the tree, but slowly, but didn't even make a hole in the iron. Then I sharpened them with the Drill Doctor following the instructions and couldn't believe my eyes. Bits cut through iron like butter! Of course I had to use oil to keep the bits cool but my goodness I was shocked! Some of my bits had a hard time cutting through wood, but once sharpened they were better than new! Now I have hundreds of sharpened bits and won't have to buy one for years if I don't break them. But a Drill Doctor can even turn a broken nozzle into a new nozzle! I have to try that. If I dull something that I've sharpened, I just run it through the Drill Doctor again to sharpen it again!
