This starter worked well. It failed after a few months. I tried calling Mercury to make a warranty claim as my purchase has a 1 year warranty on the product. Mercury told me to call Amazon. I called Amazon and they told me I had to call Mercury. I then went to the Mercury dealer to run diagnostics to attempt a warranty claim. The dealer ran a diagnosis and confirmed that the starter was not working properly. The dealer then called (probably Mercury) and said I had to call Revain. I then called Mercury back and after much chatter and frustration was told to contact Quivers, the third party charged with selling Mercury over the internet. The quivers told me they couldn't help me as they don't deal with consumers. Needless to say I am very disappointed that a product that claims a 1 year guarantee cannot be returned or exchanged. I think the moral of the story is that you should NOT order the Mercury product through online retailers like Revain. No dealer will be willing to help with a warranty claim as they will not benefit from the sale. Buy from your dealer and they will (hopefully) confirm the manufacturer's warranty. About $300 down the drain due to unclear warranty information and protocol.
