I had to machine a 1/8" x 1/8" mild steel dovetail. It was a "government" job for a friend and I didn't want to. I spent a lot of money on a tool I rarely used, so I spent the money on this cutter. Lie, I took the tiny cutter out of the box with quite a hesitation. But with plenty of cutting oil and light (.010) passes, this cutter handled the cuts with no problem. Impressive for a tiny $10 cutter. One thing to note is that these cutters are metric, which means imperial collets may not have enough adjustment range to grip the cutter shank. I solved this problem by turning the shank to 3/8" on a lathe. The shank is hardened, but the carbide tool cuts easily and gives a good finish.
