In my opinion the design flaw is the saw itself, not the fence. My fence arrived quickly and is strong and straight/see through. It fits freely in the saw hub because the hub is poorly designed, but the thumbscrew fits perfectly and holds the fence in place after installation and during use. I just use a small square to make sure it's straight, tighten and then cut. It's an extra, unnecessary step, but it cuts straighter than without a fence. I'm glad I bought this. I'm less than happy with Rigid for not creating a more accurate bushing and for not considering that fence when purchasing the saw
