3 Series Jag XJ6 Installation Information

This is listed as a replacement for the 3 Series XJ6 and whilst it can be made to work it will require modification. This is too long, so do yourself a huge favor. Put it next to your old one and cut it off before installing - it will crease and you'll have trouble aligning the thermostat cover if you don't. Also, the original has a 7/8" ID and this one has a 3/4" ID so you need to put some pressure on it. It will do, but a little water inside will help. It seems that none of the major US manufacturers (Gates, Dayco, etc.) make hoses specifically designed for XK powered Jags anymore. They sell things that were made for other cars that might work (like this one and the bottom right and top right hoses) but you have to fiddle with it to make it happen. I would not use URO brand tubing if there was no other choice. - from my own experience of rather poor quality. I've also had bad experiences with hose kits from major Jag suppliers. I bought a standard set (no kevlar) from XKS Unlimited and they weren't installed long before I saw leakage through the open ends of the built in string! It's like something has failed inside. I can't prove it but I think it's URO. I've had bad experiences with hoses that I know are also UROs. I ride my Jags long and far, so I can't afford a blown tube, so I take special offers from Gates and Dayco. I will say however that I have a Series 1 Kevlar kit from (I think) XKS which still looks good but isn't cheap. -- Jag's scolding is over --
