I use this mini rock heater as a secondary heat source for my adult female leopard gecko. In a 10 gallon terrarium I hardly ever need to use the main heat sources as they heat up most of the tank. It's not that hot, but it's going to be really cozy. My gecko has taken to it so well that he often sleeps on it (even when unplugged and cool). I was wary at first because I'd heard horror stories about other heat stones that had bad hotspots and burned the animal, so I left it to heat on my dresser. I've waited for it to become heat stable and the heat seems to be dissipating very well. In terms of size, it's perfect. Again, I have a large adult leopard gecko and it is more than big enough for her. If I had more than one gecko I might consider going to a medium size.
