Review on Complete 7Pcs Diamond Hole Saw Set With Guide Jig And Centering Locator For Glass, Ceramics, And Tile by Jeff Richardson

Good for around the house projects

I needed to replace one 12x12 ceramic tile in the bathroom. Unfortunately It happened to be the piece where the shower handle, diverter and pipe come through. In order to cut holes through the tile, I needed to to buy some tile hole saw bits. I didn't need or want the expensive ones for this project because I wont be using these very often. After measuring out and marking the hole locations, I determined the sizes of bits I would need and got to work. You can cut a hole without the jig that came with the 7 piece set if you have a steady hand and know how to start your cut by angling the drill but I thought I would try it out since it was part of the kit. Once you are able to set your bit location and secure the suction cup in place, the jig works well. After a bit of trial and error, I was able to get the jig stable enough to make the cut. Always use plenty of water when cutting through ceramic tile. It will keep the bit cool and make the cut much smoother (not to mention, your bits will last longer). These bits are definitely on the cheaper side but if your not going to using them a whole lot, they will work nicely for small projects and hopefully give you several cuts before they wear out. Also, the jig worked decently to hold the bit in place, but it will slip if there is too much moisture on the tile. I wiped down the tile so that it was clean and the suction cup could grip securely. All in all, I would recommend these bits for small DIY jobs.

Pros
  • Used for a tile shower project. Worked great.
Cons
  • Not recommend for heavy use.
