Review on πŸ”˜ Recoil Waterproof Bluetooth Media Button: Steering Wheel Remote Control for iPhone 11, X/XS/XR, iPad Pro, Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus/S10 by Omar Card

Almost done but Android camera button

Works as it should, like a remote control. It uses the BT HID or "input device" profile which Android 10 (Pixel 4XL) sees as a keyboard, but as of iOS (iPhone SE 2020) it doesn't hide the keyboard like other similar remotes (I don't know if Apple recently fixed this long-standing problem themselves, or is it the functionality of the remote control). A long press of play/pause will bring up the Google Assistant. It's water resistant so I bought it for use in the shower and washing dishes. All is well. Now for the bad. Something that's a deal breaker for me, and maybe others, is that the top button is actually programmed to double-press the phone's power button, which is common on Pixel phones and other near-stock Android devices the camera opens. Maybe that's what it means. But the thing is, you accidentally press that button and now your volume buttons become the shutter button and there's no way to close the camera without touching the phone. So if you turn on music, say in the shower, on a motorbike, or some other time when the phone is out of range, and you press that button, you'll have to reach for the phone if you want the button's volume to start again with work, not to mention that now the phone screen is on and the camera is open, wasting battery and maybe accidentally taking photos or videos for no reason.

Pros
  • Dope πŸ”₯
Cons
  • Unsafe
