Review on πŸ“ MAXUS Espresso Scale with Timer: Small and Handy Barista Scale for Perfect Coffee Brewing by Brittany Hamilton

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Fits Gaggia Classic and works well

These are good scales. It fits under my Gaggia Classic with a slightly short and stocky Asian teacup used as an espresso shot. The screen is well lit and easy to read. The removable lid, which is turned sideways and placed on the scale, provides a convenient platform for weighing the entire portafilter and dosing handle. The automatic shut-off time is long enough to unload the portafilter and funnel, grind and weigh the dose in the filter. Cons: Battery life can be a bit low. I've been using it for about two weeks and the battery indicator has dropped to the last bar. Of course, this is unbranded with free batteries included, so it could be better with higher quality batteries. Coffee grounds can get caught in the buttons and are difficult to shake out. I can feel them *crunching* under some buttons. This sometimes results in the timer's start button not registering and as a result I've missed a few shots. I have found that pressing the start button and waiting for the screen to flash once to indicate it has started THEN starting the espresso machine ensures the clock runs before the water hits with less than a second loss of time .

Pros
  • understandable for the old ones too
Cons
  • Some little things
