This kit works. Stable brackets and strong welds. I bought it to fit factory rails with a Surco post. My factory rails aren't quite flat on top and not quite parallel to the bar on the crest post. This channel adapter must be a "universal" mount as it doesn't exactly match the angle of my rails.1. Used fender washers to position the mounting brackets in the angle of my roof rails2. I had to use longer screws as the lengths supplied are not long enough for my factory rails. I had several stainless 6x16x10mm hex bolts that fitted perfectly. Otherwise I would have to get screws from the hardware store. The picture shows the wing washers used to slide the adapter through the flat corner to fit my rails. I drive a 2000 Nissan Pathfinder - factory rails. Same fits 1996-2004 make/model
