NOT compatible with SmartThings

I bought this based on other reviews and don't understand why they don't have issues. I was able to connect mine and report the values BUT it doesn't stay connected for long. Sometimes it turns itself off after a couple of hours and sometimes after a couple of minutes if it sits a foot away from the hub. This is possible with the v2 hub and the new SmartThings app, in case that matters. This is by no means a bad reflection of the device or Aqara as they don't claim to work with SmartThings. The

Inexpensive Temperature/Humidity Sensor for SmartThings

Despite unofficial support for SmartThings, you can use it with a custom device handler - search for "bspranger aqara" - As of this review 01/18/2021, I'm currently running v1 .3.1. Although the sensor didn't work well initially, it took a day to consistently measure temperature, humidity, and battery life. The battery was not on the first day, but on the second day after installation. I'll buy another one for upstairs. Recommended if you can work with custom device handlers for SmartThings…

Works with Smartthings, make sure you install the device handler.

It works well with my setup. My son's room is at the back of our house and we have mini split heating and hot water forced heating (oil). In the winter, we'll turn on the mini-stoves for heating at night, so it gets pretty cold in his room. This attitude will help you feel comfortable on cold winter nights. The old product description was inaccurate - not compatible with Zigbee

The old product description stated that it was compatible with Zigbee 1.2, which is completely inaccurate. They use a modified version that isn't very compatible outside of their own hub. You can get this to work with a SmartThings hub if you either 1) don't have other Zigbee devices that this device will jump through, or 2) you have one of the Aqara devices that can connect to your STH. Even if you manage to connect it directly to your STH with other Zigbee devices on the network, it will…

Works with Home Assistant without Aqara Hub

I use two of these sensors in my Home Assistant (HASS) ecosystem without a proprietary sensor hub. They use the Zigbee protocol and simply connect to HASS. Since these are terminal devices, I recommend placing them near a relay device (mains powered device) or closer to the hub you are using. The batteries last at least 2 months (I haven't changed the batteries since I got them and they are about 50% charged) depending on how often they send data. I use one in the attic and bathroom for…

Very reliable in home automation devices

Great quality and the Aqara sensor stays connected to my smartthings v3. If you have a Philips Hue hub, I would recommend turning it off before setting up the Aqara sensor. The Aqara sensor prefers to connect directly to the Smartthings v3 hub first. Update: I'm using a custom IDE on a Smartthings V3 hub and I don't have any disconnects. If you have a Philips Hue Hub: Turn it off first before syncing your Aqara sensor. The Aqara battery still reads 97%-100% which is amazing. I use these sensors

Works well - Electrician

I have what I would call a non-standard installation. I don't want anything to do with a proprietary hub for a number of reasons. First of all, I don't want to lie in bed with any company if I can help. I want to be able to buy what I want, when I want, without worrying that my existing hub will support another product from a different manufacturer. Second, of course, I'm nervous about products on my home network that I don't have full control over. Call me old fashioned, but I am (note: I'm…

Does the job, can work with a SmartThings hub

Okay, let me get that out of the way first. I'm glad Revain wanted me to review this product separately for its 'flexibility'. What does that even mean? This is an overview of the temperature/humidity sensor. Pros: - Small form factor fits in well enough - Gets the job done - Prices are reasonable - Can be paired with a SmartThings hub if you want to put up with a bit of hop/hate to set it up with a member-made custom Handler community and freely available on Github. The range seems good. I…
