Review on ๐Ÿ”’ Master Lock Stainless Steel Barbell Receiver Lock - 5/8 in. Fit (1469DAT) by Derrick Shaw

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Junk, unworthy of the lock owner

Good. Bought this to replace a steel locking pin (the lock still worked perfectly thanks to the good rubber coating!) that was corroded and had to be knocked out. Patterned.Stainless steel, Master Lock.Good combination, right? Not correct! Chinese trash! The pin is made of stainless steel, the rest looks like aluminum. I haven't even installed it yet, but here's what I've found so far; The buttons did not work smoothly. In fact, the first 40 or so uses (yes, I poked around the lock and key 40 times!) from the pack met with resistance (almost sand) even after 3M Drilube and WD40! Very poor quality and workmanship not to mention the quality control! The stem lock cylinder is supposed to make it easier to open, but the o-ring on the pin is so sloppy that it spins, driving the keyway to the bottom. This of course results in a very loose, rubbery, so-called face-down lid. If it stays closed, which it doesn't, it's now in the perfect position to collect moisture, real water, salt and whatever else is in the way and soak the locking mechanism with it! Useless. I need to use it as I rented a trailer and don't have time to order a new one. No choice. After the trip I get a real one! Avoid this junk if you can. I really don't know how anyone can rate this 4 or 5 stars. I only gave it 3 stars because it will hit and block the hole lest a semi honest person or kid steal your lead. It won't last long and looks like a good hammer blow will destroy it quickly and almost effortlessly. What good is a stainless steel pen if everything else will either rot (anyone have white rust?) or shatter. Unless you live in a desert state!
