Review on Fel Pro OS 34509 Oil Gasket by Phillip Brown

Thin front gasket in oil

I used a gasket kit for a full overhaul on an SBC engine. The kit included a 4-piece oil pan gasket. I do not recommend using a composite oil pan gasket. It leaked in the back row. I bought this pad because it is one piece. This fixed the leak in the rear, but now it's leaking in the front of the timing chain cover. I didn't know it was a THIN FRONT SEAL. I knew I needed a thick front gasket but didn't see that information in the product description. I've already installed it, so I can't return it. Having spoken to the folks at Fel-pro I need the OS34510T, it has a thick front gasket and dipstick holes on both sides (sealed whichever side you use). However, I chose 1880. This gasket is trimmed internally for line clearance, has a thick front gasket and a dipstick on the driver's side.

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
